At the end of 2022 on December 15th our CEO Dr. Johanna Holsten and partners involved in the “U-Space Reallabor Rheinisches Revier” (U-Space R3) research project were officially presented with the funding document in Berlin by Germany’s Federal Minister of Transport Volker Wissing.

The project is being funded by the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure Bundesministerium für Digitales und Verkehr (BMDV) as part of the mFUND innovation initiative, with a total of 1.8 million euros until January 2025.

The consortium for the U-SpaceR3 research project includes Dronig GmbH and Vodafone GmbH and flyXdrive GmbH under the leadership of the Institute of Flight System Dynamics RWTH Aachen University. The aim of the project is a safe and flexible integration of U-Space- Services for unmanned aerial systems (UAS) in the airspace.

flyXdrive will operate unmanned and bvlos flights with the TW-Neo (UAS) to support the project.

Looking forward to these flights and the design and testing of further U-Space Services in Germany and Europe.
